A woman has confessed to fatally stabbing a man in Bristol, leading to a court hearing and ongoing investigations into the incident.
Christina Howell, 37, from Easton, pleaded guilty to manslaughter due to diminished responsibility. She initially said she wasn’t guilty of murder but changed her plea in court.
The Crown Prosecution Service accepted her plea, and she’s set to be sentenced on February 7. For now, she’s in a high-security hospital while they sort out psychiatric reports.
Mr. Brown, 61, was stabbed around 2:30 PM on Grosvenor Road. People nearby detained Howell about an hour later.
The Major Crime Investigation Team is treating this as a race-hate crime. Howell was charged with murder on October 2 and has been in custody since then.
DI Nadine Partridge expressed sympathy for Mr. Brown’s family, noting the pain caused by delays in the court case due to Howell’s mental health issues. She praised the family for their dignity during this tough time, especially as they faced another Christmas without him.
