A new cycle lane near the YTL Arena at Filton Airfield aims to ease traffic concerns. The council considers public feedback on Charlton Road changes.
The move made people worry, thinking traffic will worsen. Getting there seems harder now, with cycling taking about 38 minutes. The council hopes some will walk or bike.
The council wants changes on Charlton Road, which is south of the airfield. Last spring, they asked for public input, but we don’t know when work will start.
Council members will discuss it soon at a meeting on February 6. The transport policy committee will hear an update.
Some people shared their thoughts, with one person calling the arena a “white elephant.” They prefer a city center location, while another person supports the cycle lane idea. Someone else wants both parking and a cycle lane.
Others want the arena built quickly, saying Bristol misses big acts and people must travel to other cities now. Someone thinks cyclists won’t fill the arena, arguing that parking is very important. The train line should be used too.
Someone suggested many parking spots by the highways, while another proposed using the mall car parks. Another disagreed about Long Ashton park and ride. One person joked about biking from South Bristol, but someone is glad the arena is away from central Bristol.
