Walsall: The council’s plan for more rewilding is off the table. They were going to cut grass less often to save money. But people weren’t happy about it.

Last year, many folks complained about the messy look of the borough. They felt it made Walsall look unkempt and led to more trouble in the area. Interestingly, when the council asked for feedback, only 18 out of 60 councillors replied.

On January 15, Councillor Garry Perry spoke up. He said it wasn’t fair to blame just one person for the decision. He reminded everyone that it was a group choice.

Even though the rewilding plan is out of the budget, Perry promised some form of it would still happen. He mentioned it would be in the right spots.

In 2024, they only cut grass in green areas once. This was part of a government plan to create better habitats for wildlife. The goal was to help the environment and improve residents’ well-being.
