Edinburgh: This week, the UK is bracing for some serious snow. Weather maps show that parts of the country could see up to 11 inches of snow. That’s a lot of snow!

Scotland and northern England are expected to get hit the hardest. The Highlands might see around 10cm of snow. Inverness and Aberdeen are also in for a chilly surprise, with 4 to 6cm predicted.

The Scottish Borders could get between 2 and 9cm, while Northern Ireland might see over 3cm. It’s definitely time to bundle up!

As we move into Saturday, things could get even worse. Central Scotland might get a dusting of 17cm, and the Highlands could see up to 22cm. By January 26, some areas could be buried under 29cm of snow.

The Met Office warns that this week will be unsettled, especially in the north and west. Southern and eastern areas might dodge the worst of it, but it’s still going to be a wild ride.

A strong jet stream is pushing another system toward the UK, which could lead to more weather warnings. While temperatures might feel normal, the wind and rain will make it feel colder.

Looking ahead to early February, expect mild weather with rain and strong winds. But don’t worry, there will be some brighter days too. Just be prepared for the cold nights ahead!
