A massive snow band of 587 miles is set to hit the UK next week, with England expecting up to 7cm of snow. The south west may escape the worst.
London: A big snow band, stretching 587 miles, is coming to the UK next week. Maps show a lot of purple, indicating heavy snow on Tuesday, February 11.
Snowfall could reach 10cm per hour, with England seeing about 7cm. The south west might not get much snow at all.
By Wednesday evening, snow will cover areas from the Scottish Highlands to Southampton. Weather expert James Madden shared his thoughts on the upcoming snow.
He mentioned that the week will start calm, with high pressure causing fog and frost. Snow showers will begin in Ireland and then move to parts of Scotland and northern England.
Mr. Madden warned that the wintry weather might be more widespread than expected. By the end of the week, colder winds will bring several days of snow starting around February 8-15.
Initially, snow showers may be hit-and-miss in the east and south. However, they will likely become more intense and widespread as the week progresses.
He noted that cold easterly winds are on the way, signaling a significant snow event soon.
