A major snowstorm is set to hit the UK, impacting 54 counties, with significant snowfall expected across England and Scotland this weekend
City: The UK is gearing up for a big snowstorm. It’s going to last 36 hours and hit 54 counties. Some areas might wake up to 3cm of snow. This is happening from Friday, January 24, through the weekend.
England and Scotland are both in for it. Scotland will likely see the worst of the snow. But don’t count out north and south west England; they’re also in for a heavy dusting.
The storm will roll into Saturday, January 25. Counties like Aberdeenshire, Angus, and Ayrshire in Scotland are on the list. They’re not alone; Dumfriesshire and Fife will also get some snow.
Wales isn’t escaping either. Gwynedd and Conwy are expected to see snow, along with Denbighshire and Wrexham. In England, places like Northumberland and Yorkshire are also in the mix.
Looking ahead, the BBC says it will get milder soon. Next week should be mostly dry, but a wetter and windier pattern might return later. Temperatures will stay above average.
Just last weekend, the UK experienced its coldest night in over a decade, with temperatures dropping to -20C. So, it’s been quite a winter!
