Hannah Whittall’s passing leaves her twin daughters without parents, following their father’s death just 18 months earlier. A heartbreaking story of loss.
Tamworth: It’s a heartbreaking story. Hannah Whittall, a beloved mum, lost her battle with breast cancer. She found a lump under her arm just months before her death. Hannah tried to shield her 11-year-old twin daughters, Isabelle and Emmy, from the news. They had already lost their dad the year before.
Hannah grew up in Sutton Coldfield and later moved to Tamworth. She went through months of chemotherapy and had a double mastectomy. In September 2024, she got the all-clear, and everyone celebrated. But just a month later, the cancer returned, and this time it was worse.
She was hospitalized in December with pneumonia and fluid in her lungs. Thankfully, she made it home for one last Christmas with her girls. Sadly, she had to return to the hospital due to complications. On January 14, she passed away, surrounded by her loved ones.
Her brother Thomas shared that the girls were at her bedside, thanking her for everything. They were so close to their mum, never wanting to leave her side. Now, they are orphans after losing their dad to pneumonia in May 2023. Thomas said Hannah was their whole world.
He mentioned how the girls worried about their dad being alone in heaven. Now, they believe their mum is there to take care of him. It’s just so tragic how quickly everything changed for them.
Hannah was only 33 and faced such an aggressive form of cancer. It was heartbreaking to see her health decline. The girls thought she was just sick, not realizing the severity of her condition.
During her last weeks, Hannah’s mum, Phyllis, stayed by her side at the hospital. Phyllis, a nurse for 50 years, made sure Hannah felt comfortable. Thomas is now raising funds on GoFundMe for the twins’ care, and they’ve already raised nearly £30,000.
He’s overwhelmed by the support and hopes to raise awareness about cancer. He wants Hannah’s story to help others. It’s a tough situation, but the community is rallying around the girls.
Hannah’s story is a reminder of the importance of being aware of breast cancer symptoms. If you notice any changes, don’t hesitate to consult a doctor. Always take care of your health.
