Get ready for more snow across England and Scotland as forecasts predict fresh snowfall this weekend, impacting many areas before January wraps up
Edinburgh: It looks like snow is making a comeback across England and Scotland. WX Charts has shared some maps showing what we can expect in the last days of January.
Forecasts suggest that fresh snow could hit this Saturday. The west of Scotland might see snow piling up at about 1cm per hour. Cape Wrath and areas like Argyll and Bute are on the list for a light dusting.
Down south, Edinburgh is also in the mix. In England, places like Greater London, Sussex, and the east coast, including Suffolk and Norfolk, could see 0.2-1cm of snow per hour.
Exacta Weather’s James Madden mentioned that some of the heavier snow showers could even reach central regions and parts of Wales by the end of the week.
The Met Office has warned that Storm Éowyn will bring wet and windy weather on Friday. Northern Ireland, northern England, and north Wales might face some disruptions.
Looking ahead to Saturday and Monday, Storm Éowyn will still be causing some issues in the north. But by the afternoon, we might see some brighter skies and lighter winds.
Mike Silverstone from the Met Office said that Storm Éowyn is expected to bring strong winds and widespread disruptions. Weather warnings are in place across the UK.
The storm will start in Northern Ireland early Friday and move northeast across Scotland. The strongest winds could hit Northern Ireland, southern and central Scotland, and northern England.
There’s an Amber weather warning for wind covering Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland, and northern England for most of Friday. Winds should ease later in the day.
