Next week, six counties in England will face a significant snowstorm lasting 36 hours, starting on Valentine’s Day. Prepare for possible disruptions and travel issues.
London: A snowstorm is on the way! Starting at midnight on February 14, snow will blanket southern England. Weather maps show that areas as far south as London and Sussex will be affected.
Counties like Sussex, Essex, Norfolk, Cumberland, Cumbria, and Northumberland are at high risk. The Scottish Borders and parts of North Wales may also see snow. The northwest of Britain is looking vulnerable too.
Snowfall could reach 0.6 cm per hour. By 6 AM on Valentine’s Day, many areas will be covered in snow. Northern Ireland is also expected to see some accumulation.
According to forecasts, the entire country down to the south coast is at risk. The Met Office predicts mostly dry weather in England and Wales before the snow hits.
Scotland and Northern Ireland will be windy with coastal gales and rain. Heavy rain is expected in the northwest, while southern and eastern areas will remain dry and mild.
Looking ahead, a band of rain will move east across England and Wales on February 4. Expect brighter spells and heavy showers further north, along with windy conditions.
From Wednesday to Friday, Scotland may see blustery showers, some wintry. The week will end dry with some sunshine, but it will feel colder with overnight frosts.
