Shrewsbury: A man named Richard Forbes has been jailed for killing his landlady’s dog. He stabbed the elderly Pomeranian, Comet, multiple times. The poor dog suffered a broken neck and jaw.

Comet was rushed to an emergency vet, but sadly, they had to euthanize him. His owner called him “the sweetest little dog in the whole world.” Forbes, 46, attacked his landlady after a night of drinking.

When she ran to a neighbor for help, police arrived just as Forbes tried to escape in her car. He was arrested and bragged about hurting the 22-year-old dog, who was found with stab wounds wrapped in a blanket.

On January 31, Forbes was sentenced for this crime and other offenses. He had previously assaulted several people, leaving one man seriously injured. He pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including animal cruelty.

The judge sentenced him to seven and a half years in prison. He also received a 30-year ban on owning animals and a 10-year restraining order against his landlady. Forbes was disqualified from driving for six years.

Detective Constable Geoff Anslow called the case horrendous. He said Forbes’ actions were cruel and had a devastating impact on the victim. He hopes justice has been served for Comet and his owner.
