Manchester: A full list of counties facing snow this weekend in the UK has been revealed. Weather maps show a wall of snow hitting the UK later this week.

Snow is predicted to hit the Highlands of Scotland and the Central Belt from January 30 to January 31. There may also be a light dusting in northern Lancashire and Cumbria around midnight.

WX Charts forecasts that snowfall will move southward towards Manchester, Cheshire, Derbyshire, and Staffordshire around 3am. Areas impacted include Ayrshire, Argyll and Bute, and Cumbria.

In addition to these counties, Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Northumberland, and Lancashire are also at risk. Dumfries and Galloway, along with the Scottish Highlands, could be affected too.

The Met Office forecast for today mentions a dry day for most areas, with early frost and mist clearing to sunshine. However, it will be windier in the far northeast with some blustery showers.

Initially fine with clear periods, thickening cloud and rain will move south and east across the UK overnight, bringing some hill snow. Patchy frost is expected after the rain.

Looking ahead to Friday, it will be rather cloudy in central, southern, and eastern areas, with rain and hill snow gradually dying out. Mostly fine further north and west with sunny spells.

From Saturday to Monday, expect mostly dry but cloudy conditions on Saturday. The northwest will turn wet and windy, with rain easing on Sunday. More wind and rain are expected in the northwest on Monday, but it will be fine elsewhere.
