Warwickshire Police have discovered remains believed to belong to Stefan Watkins, missing since May 2023. The search continues as formal identification is pending.
Warwick: Police have found remains while searching for Stefan Watkins, who has been missing for almost two years. He disappeared from his home in Warwick on May 6, 2023, the day of King Charles III’s Coronation.
Stefan left behind a partner and a three-year-old son. Warwickshire Police have made several appeals to locate the 48-year-old. They believe he may have traveled to Hillfields in Coventry early on May 7.
Last July, a 45-year-old woman from Warwick was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder but was later released without charges. Now, police have confirmed that remains, thought to be Stefan’s, have been found.
A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police stated that specially trained officers discovered the remains in Charterhouse Fields on February 1. The remains have been forensically recovered and will undergo a post-mortem examination.
Formal identification of the remains is still pending. Police have updated Stefan’s family about this latest development, but they noted that the identification process may take some time.
