Two drivers in the West Midlands were caught speeding at 108mph by hidden cameras. They face serious penalties for their reckless behavior on the roads.
West Midlands: Two drivers were caught speeding at 108mph on dual carriageways. They thought they were safe, but hidden speed cameras recorded their reckless driving.
These incidents happened last October and November. The drivers were in an Audi A5 and a Volkswagen Golf. They were clocked on the A452 Collector Road and A45 Coventry Road.
Average speed cameras monitor speeds over a distance. The drivers likely didn’t realize they were being recorded for so long. West Midlands Police are processing these cases now.
These drivers could face six or more penalty points and hefty fines. They might even end up in court and face a driving ban for going over 100mph.
Another driver was caught doing 107mph in a BMW I4 on Small Heath Highway in July. This information came from a freedom of information request about speeding in the region.
Average speed cameras are now common in Birmingham and the Black Country. They catch thousands of drivers each year. Last year, a Mercedes E-Class was clocked at 120mph on the M6, the fastest recorded speed in the area.
