Cradley Heath: Big changes are coming to the Haden Hill Leisure Centre. Plans have been submitted to give this old place a £24 million facelift. It’s been closed since March last year, and it’s about time for a makeover.

The current swimming pool has seen better days. It’s been shut since the ceiling collapsed. The new plans include tearing down the old pool and building a brand-new one. Plus, the whole building will get a serious upgrade.

Sandwell Council is now reviewing the planning application. The new centre will have a community pool, a learner pool, a sauna, and steam rooms. There will also be a gym, dance studios, an indoor cycling studio, a sports hall, and even a café.

They expect the new centre to open in October 2026. The government is chipping in £20 million from its ‘levelling up’ fund. Sandwell Council is adding another £2 million, with hopes for an extra £2 million soon.

Initially, they thought about demolishing the whole centre. But with rising costs, they decided to keep some parts. The new design will be more compact and efficient, making it a better fit for the community.

Overall, this upgrade aims to create a high-quality leisure environment for everyone in Cradley Heath. It’s a much-needed boost for the local area.
