Worcester: A man named Richard Leighfield has been sentenced for some truly awful behavior. He thought he was chatting with a 13-year-old girl online. Instead, he was talking to an adult pretending to be a schoolgirl.

Between July and August last year, he gave her sick instructions for sexual acts. He was caught and arrested in August 2024. In court, he admitted to several serious charges.

These included trying to get a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity and making indecent images of children. He was sentenced to 30 months in prison. Plus, he’s on the sex offenders register for life.

When police arrested him, they found disturbing images on his phone. These included some of the worst types of indecent photographs.

Detective Constable Giuseppe Saladino from the police said Leighfield showed predatory behavior. Thankfully, his actions were stopped by an online profile. The police are committed to protecting children from predators like him.

Leighfield’s case highlights the importance of vigilance online. If you have concerns about child sexual abuse, there are charities that can help. They offer support for anyone worried about these issues, whether it’s about themselves or someone else.
