O2 is ending its pay-as-you-go data SIM services for existing customers today, with the final date set for January 31, 2025. Customers need to act quickly.
London: O2 is stopping its pay-as-you-go data SIMs for existing customers today. This change affects their Mobile Broadband and iPad services, which will end on January 31, 2025.
With the PAYG option, you paid for a set amount of data that lasted a certain time. O2 stopped offering these data-only SIMs to new customers last August. Now, existing customers can’t use this service after January 31.
O2 sent an email to customers saying, “We’re sorry to let you know that we’re removing our Pay As You Go Mobile Broadband & iPad services from our portfolio on January 31, 2025.” They also mentioned that the customer account management portal will close on December 17, 2024.
Customers can still use their service until the end date. An O2 spokesperson confirmed, “On January 31, we are removing our PAYG Mobile Broadband and iPad services.”
O2 has reached out to affected customers, offering support if needed. They encourage customers to switch to a pay monthly data SIM plan, which has options for 30-day, 12-month, or 24-month contracts.
Customers should use their remaining data before the cut-off date or contact O2 for a refund. One customer expressed frustration, asking if the news about the service ending was true.
