Independent review launched following staff concerns about the Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service culture.
This audit comes a year after a good report; inspectors once said the service promoted values well. Fairness and diversity got an “adequate” rating back then, but concerns came up despite past praise. Leaders want to listen to everyone.
The council says the review just started and will talk to fire service staff. The fire service improved quickly recently, which meant changes for its workers. A lawyer told staff about the review in an email. He wrote that some employees have concerns about the fire service’s culture.
The council will treat these worries seriously, hoping it boosts the whole team’s experience. Previous reports weren’t as glowing; inspectors had said the service needed to improve how it treats its people. The latest report noted an “open door policy” that helps staff reach managers easily.
