A murder trial reveals a nephew fatally stabbed his uncle during a long-standing family dispute, leading to a violent confrontation outside a grandmother’s home.
Mohammed, a father of four, collapsed on the pavement after suffering a serious neck wound. Annib reportedly went into his grandmother’s house and then attacked his cousin, Zayn Khan.
This incident happened shortly after a heated exchange outside a mosque. Prosecutors say the stabbing stemmed from years of conflict between the uncle and nephew.
Annib, 29, denies murdering Mohammed, 45, and also denies wounding Zayn. Zayn is on trial for affray. The prosecution claims Annib used excessive force during the altercation.
The court heard that Annib and Mohammed had a confrontation at the mosque before the stabbing. After prayers, Annib found Mohammed waiting for him by his car.
Witnesses say they had to be separated after another argument. Annib then went to his grandmother’s house, where the situation escalated.
Zayn arrived in a car, and tensions flared between him and Mohammed. They were shouting at each other when Annib’s father opened the door.
Inside, a confrontation occurred, and Annib was hit in the head with a metal bar. Moments later, both men came outside, with Annib holding a knife.
Prosecutors allege that Annib pushed Mohammed into a van before stabbing him. Mohammed collapsed and died shortly after.
Emergency services arrived but could not save him. Annib claimed he acted in self-defense, saying he was attacked first.
The prosecution argues that Annib’s actions were not justified and that he intended to cause serious harm. The trial is ongoing.
