Bloxwich Academy has made an incredible turnaround, now ranking among the Midlands’ top schools after years of struggle
Bloxwich: Can you believe how much Bloxwich Academy has changed? It used to be one of the worst schools in the country. Now, it’s among the best!
A decade ago, it was rated ‘inadequate’ by Ofsted. That was back in 2015. Fast forward ten years, and it’s now ranked seventh in the Midlands. That’s a huge leap!
This ranking comes from the Fairer Schools Index. It looks at how schools perform, considering the challenges they face. Bloxwich Academy is now in great company.
Ian Chamberlain, the former deputy head, played a big role in this turnaround. He said it was the sixth-worst school when he started. Can you imagine that?
He mentioned how low the results were back then. But now, Bloxwich is rated ‘good’ in all areas by Ofsted. That’s a big deal!
The Fairer Schools Index helps show the real picture of school performance. It’s about time we recognize schools that do well despite tough circumstances.
Henri Murison from the Northern Powerhouse Partnership said this index helps highlight schools that truly make a difference. It’s all about giving every child the best chance.
So, hats off to Bloxwich Academy! They’ve shown that with the right support, schools can really turn things around.
