London: The Met Office is sounding the alarm for UK households. They want everyone to secure five important items as Storm Éowyn rolls in this weekend. We’re talking about some serious winds, possibly hitting 100mph!

So, what should you do? Make sure your bins, plant pots, and garden furniture are either brought inside or secured tightly. Trampolines should be flipped upside down or anchored with tent pegs. And don’t forget to lock up your shed doors!

Paul Gundersen, the Chief Meteorologist, mentioned that this storm is a “multi-hazard event.” Expect snow in some areas, rain in others, and strong winds across much of the UK. They’ve issued weather warnings for all parts of the UK at some point on Friday.

Storm Éowyn is set to hit Northern Ireland early Friday morning. Then it will move northeast, affecting the northern half of Scotland by Friday afternoon. By Friday evening, it should be near Shetland.

Even if you’re not in the Red Warning zones, be prepared for disruptive weather. Travel plans could be a mess, and some areas might even face power cuts.

Starting Thursday, the weather will take a turn. Heavy rain will sweep eastward, making things wet and windy by Friday morning. In some places, rain will start as snow, especially in Northern Ireland and higher ground in northern England.

This is the first Red Warning for Northern Ireland since the Met Office switched to impact-based warnings back in 2011. After Storm Éowyn passes on Friday and Saturday, more wet and windy weather is expected on Sunday and into next week.
