Willenhall: There are new plans for the old Wetherspoons pub. It’s set to be transformed into eight studio apartments. This is the second time they’ve tried this. The first application was pulled back last August.

The new proposal is pretty similar to the last one. It still aims to create eight one-bedroom apartments, plus six parking spots and bike storage. They want to add an extra floor to the building, making it four stories high with two apartments on each floor.

On the ground floor, the front part of the building will change. The old seating area will become a retail space. The other half will be two flats on the ground floor.

As for the back of the building, that’s where the bar and toilets used to be. This part is marked for future residential development, according to the planning agent.

The pub closed its doors in March 2023. Interestingly, this building has a history. It was once a cinema and a bingo hall. It was sold in 2024, with offers starting around £650,000.
