Cardiff: Storm Éowyn is about to hit the UK hard. We’re talking heavy rain, strong winds, and even snow. The weather alerts are serious, with red and amber warnings out there.
The Met Office says gusts could reach over 90mph in some spots. This could lead to power outages, travel issues, and even damage to buildings. So, it’s best to be prepared.
In Northern Ireland, they might see 10cm of snow per hour. The Midlands is under a yellow weather warning for wind and rain, starting Friday, January 24.

At 11pm tonight, Wales and Northern Ireland will feel the worst of it. Winds will hit 51mph in Wales and 45mph in Northern Ireland. The rest of the UK will see lighter winds, averaging around 23mph.
By midnight, things will ramp up. Coastal areas will see a big jump in wind speed. Northern Ireland could also get that heavy snow, about 10cm an hour.
At 1am, most of the UK will be dealing with strong winds. The West Midlands will see gusts around 35mph.
By 2am, those winds will pick up to about 43mph in the West Midlands. It’s going to be a rough night.
At 3am, Pembroke will hit 71mph, and other coastal areas will follow suit. It’s going to be wild.
By 4am, no one will be safe. Storm Éowyn will bring gusts of 70mph in places like Pembroke, Plymouth, Londonderry, and Belfast.
From 5am to 9am, the strongest winds will hit. The southeast might see a slight calm, with temperatures between 7C and 9C.
The Met Office warns that Storm Éowyn will sweep across the northwest of the UK on Friday, moving northeast by night. Expect very strong winds, with peak gusts of 60-70mph inland and even higher along exposed coasts.
