West Midlands Police seeks to revoke the Fox and Goose’s licence after a woman was knocked unconscious by a bouncer, raising serious safety concerns.
West Bromwich: A pub might lose its licence again. A woman was knocked unconscious by a bouncer at the Fox and Goose. This incident has raised alarms for local authorities.
West Midlands Police found the woman outside the pub, receiving help from paramedics. They are investigating serious charges, including wounding with intent and assault.
Police noted that the pub staff were not cooperative and provided conflicting details about what happened. This raised further concerns about the venue’s management.
In their review request, police mentioned that the bouncer was identified as the attacker. They confirmed the victim was a customer at the pub that night.
Sandwell Council suspended the pub’s licence on January 16. A hearing is set for February 7 to decide its fate. The owners must also address unauthorized gambling machines found on-site.
This isn’t the first time the Fox and Goose has faced scrutiny. Last year, it had its licence reviewed after a brutal assault left a man injured.
The pub’s licence was temporarily suspended then but was later reinstated with new restrictions. The owners aimed to shift focus to food and earlier opening hours.
Currently, the pub can open from 9am to 11.30pm on weekdays and until 1.30am on weekends. However, alcohol sales are limited to specific hours.
