Hengrove: This morning, flames shot up from the ground after a fire broke out. It happened around 10 am on Charter Walk, right under a public footpath.

Firefighters from Bedminster and Temple quickly arrived. They found smoke filling the area. One local mentioned that power went out nearby, and the National Grid was notified.

An eyewitness reported seeing flames around 9:30 am. They suspected a power cable might be the cause. Many houses lost power, and roads were blocked off.

Photos from the scene showed smoke and flames coming from a manhole. Avon Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called at 10:05 am about the fire.

Firefighters used a high-pressure hose and CO2 extinguishers to put out the flames. Thankfully, there were no injuries. The crews have now left, and the situation is with the National Grid.
