City: London. So, Storm Eowyn is on its way, and it’s not playing nice. The UK is bracing for some serious winds, hitting up to 100kph. The Met Office has already put out warnings, and it looks like we’re in for a wild ride this week.

They’ve got yellow alerts out, which means travel plans might go sideways. The worst of it is expected on Friday, so keep an eye on the weather.

There’s even an amber warning for January 24. This means “very strong winds” could pose a “danger to life” for many folks in northern England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. The maps are looking pretty intense, showing just how serious this storm could be.

Fresh charts show Storm Eowyn rolling in from Ireland’s southwest by Friday. It’s expected to hit with full force around midnight, and then it’ll start moving east, affecting everyone across the UK.

By 6am, winds could reach a staggering 178kph (110mph). It’ll roar across the Irish coast before losing some strength inland by 6pm, but it’ll still be dangerous.

WXCharts show gusts could peak at 154kph (94mph) over the Irish Sea. Even Wales and parts of northern England will see winds around 118kph (73mph). The amber warning is in place, so be prepared for some serious weather from 6am to about 9pm.

The warning says: “Storm Eowyn will move across the northwest of the UK on Friday, clearing to the northeast on Friday night.”

They’re predicting strong west to southwesterly winds, with gusts of 60 to 70 mph inland and even higher along the coasts. Just a heads up, there might be a brief lull in the winds as the storm passes, but don’t get too comfortable; they’ll pick up again.

Winds should start to ease later on Friday, but it’s going to be a rough day for sure.
