Manchester: The UK is gearing up for a snowy Valentine’s Day. Snow is expected to start next week. WX Charts, using Met Desk data, shows that Greater Manchester, Cumbria, and the Lake District will see the most snow.

Besides these areas, the Peak District and all of Scotland might get a light dusting. Cheshire, Staffordshire, and Yorkshire are also at risk of snow. Frank Saunders, the Met Office Chief Meteorologist, warns of a temperature drop this weekend.

High-pressure systems will bring easterly winds and colder air, increasing the chance of snow and ice. Keep an eye on the forecast as the week progresses for updates.

Rain and strong winds are expected Monday night into Tuesday, starting in northwestern Wales and England. By Tuesday evening, lighter rain will reach eastern England. Southern areas will stay dry with some sunny intervals and slightly above-average temperatures.

The Met Office predicts wintry showers over higher ground in Scotland on Tuesday night, with ice possible on untreated surfaces. High-pressure systems usually bring settled weather, but they can also lead to cloudy days with little sunshine.

This time, the high-pressure center will be over Scandinavia, sending cold air into the UK. Expect chilly nights with frost and fog as a result.
