Walsall: So, the latest news is that plans to turn an office block into flats have been shot down again. This is the third time they’ve tried to revive Millennium House.

The latest proposal was from Jacob Fekete. He wanted to convert the three-story building into 20 apartments. That included three two-bedroom, 12 one-bedroom, and five studio flats. Plus, there were plans for 19 parking spaces, with 10 for electric cars and a bike store.

But Walsall Council said no. They were concerned about how the project would impact the Church Hill Conservation Area. Millennium House is right in that zone.

Before this, Fekete had to withdraw his previous application in 2024. The first attempt back in 2022 was also refused. The council said the building didn’t meet the continuous use requirement and lacked natural light in some apartments.

It seems like getting this project off the ground is tougher than expected. Fingers crossed for the next round!
