A cyclist in Newquay had a near miss with a car. Dashcam footage shows the incident at a junction.
The video was captured on a dashcam, and the driver wished to remain anonymous. One cyclist had already stopped at the junction. The second cyclist should have noticed this, but he went straight into the road anyway.
The driver thought the situation could have been different, as the car honked, but reaction time was limited. The incident occurred very quickly near the junction.
The cyclist did not wear a helmet or use lights; this happened at 6:20 pm on February 5. The bike was a bright green mountain bike, and the witness hopes the cyclist’s parents see the video. He hopes they realize how close their child came to harm.
The driver was going home from work and planned to turn left at the junction. It’s a T-junction on the left, and his road had the right of way at that intersection.
Another cyclist had stopped at the junction before, and that other cyclist wore dark clothing and was hard to see. The second cyclist should have known why he stopped. The cyclist on the green bike then appeared suddenly, and he crossed right in front of a car from the other direction.
