Jacque Doguie drove after smoking a joint. He was already on a suspended sentence, and police caught him in his BMW. This was his second drug-driving offense in two years.

The court learned Doguie initially claimed no insurance but later admitted to smoking. A drug test confirmed THC levels were over four times the legal limit. His prior sentence was for assault.

Doguie lived on Gordon Road in Byker and received a three-year driving ban. He admitted driving above the drug limit. An officer stopped Doguie on November 6 as he drove his brother’s BMW downtown.

The officer approached the BMW. The driver said he lacked insurance and smelled strongly of cannabis. He admitted to smoking before driving and failed a roadside drug test.

His blood showed 9 micrograms of THC per liter, exceeding the legal limit of 2 micrograms of THC.

Doguie has 22 prior offenses, one for drug driving in January 2023. Defense lawyer Jonathan Cousins said Doguie lost his job and then used more cannabis.

Magistrates extended his suspended sentence. They ordered him to pay £365 total to cover fines, costs, and victim surcharge.
