Two 46-year-old burglars were jailed after eating a victim’s food and stealing cash. They targeted vulnerable people in Stoke-on-Trent over several months.
They targeted vulnerable people in the Meir area from February to April last year. They pretended to deliver post to gain access to homes.
Once inside, they helped themselves to food and drinks. They also took cash from purses and stole household items and medication.
Staffordshire Police quickly tracked them down. Clewes pleaded guilty to robbery and three burglaries. Betts admitted to two burglaries.
In court, Clewes received a six-and-a-half-year sentence. Betts was sentenced to 40 months in prison.
PC Hannah Sheldon stated that they repeatedly targeted vulnerable individuals. Their actions have a serious impact on victims and communities. The police are committed to stopping such exploitation in Staffordshire.
