Two men from Bristol were arrested after stealing jewellery in Devizes, thanks to a police stinger device that stopped their getaway car.
Dolari Amet, 19, and Samet Zsiga, 20, stole over £8,000 worth of gold jewellery from Estcourt Jewellers in Devizes. They grabbed a display tray during lunchtime.
The robbery led to a big police response. Just three hours later, police stopped their car on the A350 near Chippenham. They used a stinger to box the men in.
Both Amet and Zsiga are linked to other thefts, including a £20,000 jewellery heist in Cheltenham. Amet drove the car, while Zsiga was his accomplice.
They were charged with multiple offences, including the robbery in Devizes and theft from Sports Direct. Amet also faced charges for driving without insurance.
The pair appeared in court and pleaded guilty to all charges. They were remanded in custody and will be sentenced on March 14.
Police praised the quick response to the robbery. Chief Supt Doug Downing highlighted the teamwork that led to their swift capture. He emphasized the impact of shoplifting on businesses and the police’s commitment to tackling these crimes.
