Popular North East restaurant, Blacks Corner, expands to Sunderland’s Culture House, offering dining and workshops.
The restaurant will be on the ground floor, offering unique dining with a bar and a cheese counter. There will be a dining area, open kitchen, and patisserie chefs will host workshops.
The team will also cater venue events, including the Sky Garden, which overlooks the city. Blacks Corner wants to work with the community, valuing sustainability and quality.
Sunderland is blending heritage and innovation. They are creating a vibrant city center that will help locals and visitors; Blacks Corner wants to be part of this transformation.
They want to become a Sunderland icon, aspiring to be like Binns. Blacks Corner wants to be a beacon for Sunderland, aiming to mirror Fenwick’s role in Newcastle.
This is the fourth Blacks Corner venue. Other locations include East Boldon and Seaburn, with the Seaburn site recently winning a Northern Design Award as they champion local British produce.
They support small producers and quality. The new venue will create forty new jobs, and Culture House aims to be a welcoming space, hoping to be a living room for the city.
Culture House will include the City Library and interactive digital features. They plan a year-round program as the building is part of Riverside Sunderland.
Riverside Sunderland is a large regeneration project. Developments include the Beam, City Hall, sustainable offices, and Sheepfolds Stables as a footbridge will cross the Wear.
A new Eye Hospital is coming, as is the Esports Performance Campus. The project also includes a skills academy, and they plan one thousand sustainable new homes.
The city council is excited about Blacks Corner. It will be the food partner for Culture House Sunderland, with high-quality products making it a great addition.
