A 91-year-old Birmingham man is in court, facing serious charges linked to historic child abuse at a children’s home over 30 years ago
Birmingham: A 91-year-old man is in some serious trouble. Malcolm Phillips has been charged with multiple historic child sex offences. This all stems from a police investigation into abuse claims at a children’s home.
The home, Skircoat Lodge, was active from 1970 to 1995 in Halifax. Phillips, along with 65-year-old Linda Brunning, faces charges related to incidents involving seven victims. These offences occurred between 1976 and 1994.
Phillips is looking at 32 charges, including rape and indecent assault. He’s also accused of helping another man commit indecent assault. Brunning has 15 charges against her, involving three victims from 1980 to 1994.
Both are currently out on bail and are set to appear in court soon. It’s a heavy situation, and many are watching closely to see how it unfolds.
