Birmingham: A thief named Renaldo Archer has been caught and jailed. He stole a chaplain’s phone while she was on a bus. This happened in the city center last July.

Archer, 42, snatched the phone from her pocket and hopped off the bus. Police were quick to act. They teamed up with National Express CCTV operators to track him down.

After some investigation, they arrested Archer. He faced several charges, including theft and possession of drugs. On January 17, he was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison at Birmingham Crown Court.

Pc Amy O’Connor from Operation Taurus spoke about the impact of pickpocketing. She said it can really shake people’s confidence when using public transport.
