Birmingham Airport updates parking this month, removing barriers. Enhancing efficiency with AutoPay and ANPR to quicken drop-offs and reduce congestion.
The airport announced this on February 4. The plan will roll out through early 2025. It should improve parking efficiency. They will add a barrier-free system for the premium drop-off areas.
They are using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). This gets rid of the need for barriers. The Elmdon car park changes first in February. Drop-off areas follow in spring 2025.
The airport wants to improve traffic flow. Removing barriers helps and also reduces congestion. ANPR technology is key because cars exit without stopping, helping traffic move better.
Drivers must pay within 24 hours of leaving. They have a few payment options including AutoPay. You can also pay later online, or use on-site pay machines.
Less waiting reduces pollution and helps air quality. The airport wants to be Net Zero Carbon by 2033. Reducing air pollution is a part of this plan.
Nikki Bains spoke about the new system and said it launches this spring. It makes drop-offs easier and means a faster experience for drivers. Less waiting improves traffic, she stated.
More information is coming soon. You will learn how to register for AutoPay. The airport will share details, so check back for updates.
