Scotland: A snow bomb is on the way for the UK. Six areas are at risk of heavy snow and temperatures could drop to -5C. WX Charts shows where the snow will hit next week.

In Scotland, places like Portree, Fort William, Ayr, Glasgow, Inverness, and Stornoway could see up to 8cm of snow on February 8 and 9. Brian Gaze from The Weather Outlook says a colder spell is coming, starting around February 5.

He notes that mid-February is often the coldest time in the UK. This means we might see more wintry weather soon. Southern Britain could face the worst of it this time, unlike January when the north got hit harder.

Looking ahead, the forecast from Netweather TV suggests temperatures will be below normal across the UK. Coastal areas in north-east Scotland might be just 1C below average, while south-west England could be about 3C below normal.

Most of the UK is expected to be drier than usual, except for some eastern coastal areas. Sunshine will be below normal in many regions, especially in eastern England, but western Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland may see more sunshine than usual.
