Birmingham’s Alison Hammond supports a program helping young apprentices thrive in the creative industry, calling it an incredible opportunity for them.
Birmingham: Alison Hammond is really excited about a new scheme for young apprentices. She’s currently starring in Peter Pan at the Birmingham Hippodrome. Two apprentices, Laura and Tegan, are working with her, and she thinks they’re amazing.
These two are on an 18-month apprenticeship after finishing a three-month training course. The course was designed to help young people get into creative jobs. It’s great to see them getting real experience in such a big production.
Alison believes it’s crucial to support young talent. She said this scheme is incredible because it helps them get their foot in the door. Plus, it’s free, and they learn from the best in the business.
She was surprised at how skilled Laura and Tegan are. She didn’t even realize they were apprentices! Alison remembers when she was young and had similar opportunities. She got to audition for a workshop that helped her learn acting techniques.
Matt Slack, her co-star, also praised the experience the apprentices are getting. He mentioned that being at such a top venue is a big deal. Who knows? One of them might become a superstar someday!
West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker added that these bootcamps are vital for helping young people find good jobs. He’s committed to supporting them and is thrilled to see Laura and Tegan thriving in this production.
It’s all about teamwork in productions like this. Everyone plays a role, and it’s great to see the apprentices enjoying their time and learning so much.
