The AA is advising drivers to reconsider their travel plans as Storm Eowyn approaches with severe weather warnings across the UK
City: UK. The AA is sounding the alarm about Storm Eowyn. They want drivers to think carefully before hitting the road. The Met Office has issued serious weather warnings. We’re talking red, amber, and yellow alerts for much of the UK.
With winds reaching up to 70mph and heavy rain on the way, it’s no joke. Red alerts mean there could be a risk to life. So, if you can avoid driving on Friday, January 24, it’s best to do so.
Chris Wood, the AA Patrol of the Year, is urging everyone to ask themselves if their trip is really necessary. If it’s not, just postpone it. If you must go out, be ready for anything. Expect fallen branches and debris on the roads, especially in rural areas.
Also, give yourself extra time. Your journey will likely take longer than usual. Pack some essentials just in case. Think warm clothes, a torch, and a hot drink. And don’t forget to charge your phone! Download the AA app and what3words to help them find you quickly if you run into trouble.
In the Midlands, yellow weather warnings are in effect for wind and rain on the same day. Plus, there’s another yellow warning for rain from Sunday morning until Monday morning. Stay safe out there!
