England Boxing's Clubmark Accreditation is the sign of a high quality boxing club with a junior section and is based on the Sport England's Clubmark award criteria which covers duty of care and child protection, the boxing programme, sports equity and ethics and club management. It is awarded to boxing clubs that have achieved England Boxing and Sport England Clubmark standards in providing a safe, effective and child friendly club environment. It brings together the key aspects of club development as the basis for boxing development, coaching and talent identification, with a particular focus on young people. It supports the creation of a club which is appropriately trained and resourced to meet the challenge of integrating young people into a recognised boxing club structure.
Poseidon was awarded Clubmark in February 2014 and it has helped our Club to become well organised and sustainable. The benefits of achieving the Clubmark award include positive promotion of the Club, increased membership and volunteers, increased resources, structured development and increased funding opportunities. Despite being open for little over 12 months before its award, the club passed its assessment for Clubmark with flying colours. Poseidon is one of only a handful of boxing clubs in the Southern Counties region with this prestigious award.
